Butte County Office of Education offers free meals for kids during the school closures

BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - The Butte County Office of Education is providing pick-up "grab-and-go" meals at nearly 30 locations around the county for students while schools are closed.

Beginning Thursday, March 19 through Friday, March 27 meals will be available for any student under 18, no matter what school they attend. If school closures continue, the free meals would continue to be provided.

The office said the meals will be provided based on the number of children present and they said no paperwork required.

"We encourage families to continue to be proactive in reducing the risk of COVID-19 by not congregating at the meal sites and continuing to utilize social distancing," the office shared in a post. "For this reason, all meals are designed to be “grab-and-go” and meals will not be consumed on-site."
