Here is the press conference from the Butte County Office of Education. Please watch and share.

Butte County Superintendent of School Tim Taylor said the district will reopen schools on Monday, December 3, 2018. Staff will work the week prior in order "to get mentally and physically prepared."

Taylor said their priority is to get children to attend a school with the same kids they went to school with before from their home communites.

He said the district needs money to procure 100 more portable classrooms or order to carry out their school opening plan.

Paradise Unified School District Superintendent Michelle John said, "We may be wounded, but we're not lost."

John said 90 percent of staff lost their homes, but all wanted to get back to teaching and supporting the children as soon as possible.

Six charter schools in Butte County are also impacted. 1000 students are enrolled in those schools, and more than 100 staff members are employed by those charter schools. All of their staff and teachers are safe and accounted for.

Concow Elementary School said they have approximately 50 students.

Josh Peete, the Superintendent of the Golden Feather Union School District, said they had very little time on Thursday morning to get the students out safely. He said only a handful of students were onsite because it was very early in the morning Thursday when the Camp Fire made its run through Concow.

Peete said even though all of their staff are safe and accounted for, they are still trying to locate ten of their students. Peete said because their phones are impacted, contact with the school and district can be made through their Facebook page.

Tomorrow at 1 p.m., representatives of Butte County Schools will hold a news conference to announce whether schools in the county will re-open by Nov. 26.

Approximately 5,000 students have been displaced by the Camp Fire.

The meeting is taking place at Chico High School in the Williams Theater at 901 Esplanade in Chico.

All PK-12 education providers in Butte County are working closely together to develop the best procedures to provide services to the students and families in the county.

Every district and charter school is working to find classroom space for displaced students.
