Butte County, Calif.-- Wednesday at 12 p.m., 40 different Butte County employers will post up at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds in Chico.

It doesn't really matter how qualified you are in your area of expertise, there will be jobs offered today in everything from healthcare to agriculture, auto industry and manufacturing - and big names like Lulu's and ThirdLove to name a few.

"We definitely recommend anyone interested come dressed professional because a lot of these employers intent to interview on the spot. If you have a stack of resumes, make sure you bring them, I mean, 40 employers? I would bring one for each," said Program Manager Amy Velazquez.

If you need help with your resume or prepping on your job interview skills, the Alliance for Workforce Development, Inc. will help you out; drop by either location at the County Social Services Offices in Chico or Oroville before you head to the job fair today.

So, why all the new positions?

With unemployment continuing to drop, Velazquez says it's getting harder to find qualified workers.

All in all, this is good news.

Since the beginning of 2017, unemployment in Butte County went from above 7% to less than 5% this past April.

That's still above the state average of 3.7%, but the North State is catching up.

About 40 different employees have open positions to fill today at the Butte County Job Fair, and the experts say, these days people have a great shot at getting a job that fits their qualifications.

Some of these open positions are to replace people who've retired, but a lot of this has to do with new growth in the area.

With start-ups like Build.com expanding and new companies like ThirdLove moving in.

Velazquez says one big thing we're seeing right now is a lot of jobs in healthcare - but don't be discouraged, this can be anything from a surgeon to an R.N. to janitorial services.

It's free, and it's today from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Harvest Hall at Chico's Silver Dollar Fairgrounds. It's located at 2357 Fair Street in Chico.
