UPDATE: 11:09 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2020 – A Butte County shooting suspect, wanted since the beginning of April is now in custody, according to deputies.

The shooting occurred on April 4, on Big Bend Road where a victim was shot and has since underwent surgery and is currently recovering. Deputies spoke with witnesses and determined 42-year-old Sean Franco of Concow was the suspect.

Throughout the investigation, detectives said they learned Franco was cultivating marijuana in Butte County and conspiring with other individuals to sell marijuana in the Bay Area.

On the week of April 20, detectives served a search warrant at a home in Napa. Additional evidence was located and confirmed Franco had previously visited the location after the April 4 shooting occurred, according to BCSO.

On Tuesday, April 28, detectives said they served several search warrants in Concow where they located additional marijuana and learned that Franco had recently rented a motel room in Quincy. Plumas County Sheriff's Office detectives were able to set up surveillance cameras at the motel and eventually were able to arrest Franco, according to BCSO.

Franco was booked into the Butte County Jail for one felony count of assault with a firearm, one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon, for being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and for cultivation and sales of marijuana. His bail was set at $500,000.

CONCOW, Calif. - The Butte County Sheriff's Office are actively searching for a man who they say shot a victim then fled in eastern Butte County on April 4.

On Saturday, Deputies were called to the 5000 block of Big Bend Road in Concow after getting a call someone had been shot. Once they responded, officials say the person was air-flighted to a local hospital and, after surgery, is now in stable condition.

Officials spoke with witnesses and determined Sean Franco of Concow was the suspect. Deputies say they then determined the 42-year-old lived at a home near where the shooting occurred.

The county's SWAT team then served a search warrant and officials began looking in Franco's home and around his property. Deputies say they found evidence of the shooting, as well as a large marijuana grow, but did not find Franco. Deputies believe he fled on foot after the shooting.

County deputies and detectives say they are actively looking for the Concow resident, who now has a warrant for his arrest for one felony count of assault with a firearm and for being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

This is an ongoing investigation and officials say they expect to make more arrest. If you have any further information, please call Detective Brian Mollath at 530-538-7671.
