OROVILLE, Calif. - Butte College Softball Player Savannah Berkowitz signed to play at Southern Oregon University.

Savannah went to Paradise High School. She has played at several different levels of collegiate softball.

First, the outfielder went to D1 Fresno State.

A bout with mononucleosis and pneumonia forced Savannah to redshirt. She then spent a semester at Saint Mary's before playing two seasons here at Butte College.

Savannah said she's grateful for her time with the roadrunners.

"I honestly found my passion for the game again, coming to Butte," she said. "I thought about hanging up my cleats a couple of times. Coming here, I remembered all the things I love about the game so much."

Savannah was the starting outfielder at Butte for two years. She put up some impressive stats, hitting .360 with a home run and 18 RBI's.

Savannah said she's known one of the coaches at SOU for several years, and she can't wait to go out there.

"I love the area, the coaches are great, seems like a great program," she said. "They're a team that's going to win championships and I want to be a part of that."

It was nice to receive some rain and mountain snow around northern California late Sunday and early Monday. Thankfully a change to our overall weather pattern is underway, and many more chances of rain are coming!
