OROVILLE, Calif. - Tyler Little will play offensive tackle at BYU this fall. It’ll be his first time playing football since the 8th grade.

The Butte College transfer played basketball at Gridley High School. Tyler went on a mission trip for two years after graduating. When he came back, one of his friends convinced him to try playing football.

“He said ‘we need a guy just like you',” Tyler said. “It was different to hear that. I started thinking about it. It was something I felt good about and felt really inspired to do.”

“When he said he was going to play football, it was a huge surprise for us,” Tyler’s dad, Matt, said. “I had no doubt in my mind that if that's what he decided to do, he was going all the way.”

Tyler only played spring ball at Butte College, training in the weight room and on the field. He is one of few players to come through the program having never played a game.

“He’s different in a really good way,” Butte College Head Football Coach Rob Snelling said.

Tyler sent out film of himself practicing to several schools. BYU was interested, and Tyler decided it was the perfect fit.

“Honestly it’s something I never really imagined happening so quickly,” Tyler said. “It's been cool for me to see what I feel like is the hand of god and miracles in my life."

Tyler heads out to BYU this Monday to start preparing for the season.

Get out and enjoy this beautiful weather tonight! If you do head out and plan to stay out late, probably bring an extra later to throw on for when the sun sets as temperatures will be cooling off into the low to mid 60s for the valley by midnight and low to mid 40s by tomorrow morning.
