Butte College Police investigating sexual assault case

The Butte College Police Department is investigating a sexual assault on campus.

OROVILLE, Calif. - The Butte College Police Department is investigating a sexual assault report on campus.

Police said it happened back on Sept. 4, on the nature trail on the main campus around 10 a.m.

Campus Police Chief Casey Carlson said he was not clear on the exact location of where the alleged assault happened on the nature trail, but the report was near the picnic area by the agricultural department.

A suspect has not been named. Police said the assault happened at 10 a.m. when it was light out, no witnesses have come forward yet.

Carlson said he does not believe there is any need for students to be worried at this time. He did not comment on whether the victim is a student.
