OROVILLE, Calif. - Businesses like Celestino's in Oroville were especially happy to hear they won't have to require customers to wear a mask come June 15.

Joe Buck is the general manager at Celestino’s. He said he believes this will actually help the business and bring in more people. He said he is not too worried about this leading to another surge in Coronavirus cases.

"Now I would say if you are scared of an influx then stay home or those people who are at risk just stay in and doing the curbside stuff,” Buck said. “We are doing all that we can to accommodate people but are also ready to get back to some sense of normalcy."

Buck said over the last month he has seen customers slowly stop wearing their masks and won't make people put one on.

He said the restaurant will continue to not require people to wear a mask inside the restaurant come June 15th.

California has required people to wear a mask since June 18, 2020.

Butte County Public Health said it has not received official word from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) that the mask mandate will be lifted on June 15. Therefore, the county will continue to follow all guidelines and directives from CDPH.

The welcome relief of showers will be with us this evening! They will continue to push through most places in the valley. Some places may not see some rain given their proximity to the mountains and the effects of a rain shadow
