Chico, Calif. -- A Christmas surprise came early for some very special kids in Chico.
The Boys and Girls Club of the North Valley were visited by Blue Santa from the Chico Police Department.
This is the second time the club has hosted this event, but this has been a tradition for the Chico Police Officer's Association for many years.
"The kids are super excited to be collaborating with the Chico Police Department and just helping them know we're a big part of this community," said Jessica Starkey, the Area Director for the Boys and Girls Club of the North Valley.
More than 120 kids met with 'Blue Santa.' After they were finished telling Santa what they wanted for christmas, the kids got to pick from a collection of toys that Santa brought in the Chico Police Department vehicle.
"A lot of these kids, we don't want them to be afraid of police. And I'm just a representative of the police. I have the same badge, I have the same patch," said Chico Police Detective Peter Durfee.
"I had everything from kids want drones, drones were very popular this year," said Durfee.
Some kids had other things in mind on their wish list.
"But then there are some that just want to be with family, so it's heartfelt," said Durfee.
'Blue Santa' has plans to stop by the pediatric ward at Enloe Hospital on Christmas Eve.
