Red Bluff, Calif.- Vitalant is looking for blood donors for a blood drive being held on Wednesday, April 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Tehama County Fairgrounds (670 Antelope Boulevard).

Appointments are encouraged. To sign up, visit vitalant.org and enter Blood Drive code SMFE079 or call 530-243-0160.

Type O blood is in short supply and is of critical need. All types of blood are needed but type O is the most transfused.

Vitalant uses blood for transfusions as well as for testing for COVID-19 antibodies. If someone is positive for antibodies Vitalant can produce convalescent plasma that can help treat patients with COVID-19.

Covid-19 protocols will be in place to ensure the safety of donors, patients and staff. This includes checking temperatures, social distancing, disinfecting public areas and wearing face masks.
