Hwy 99 Onramp at East Ave. Reopens After Chico Big Rig Crash

The truck veered off the side off the freeway and collided with a car getting onto Highway 99 from East Avenue.

UPDATE: 11:40 a.m. Friday 5-25-2018: The southbound Highway 99 onramp on East Avenue in Chico as been reopened.

CHICO, Calif.-- A big rig crash has blocked a freeway onramp in Chico. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 6:40 a.m.

The CHP says a big rig was travelling southbound on Highway 99 when the driver lost control. The truck veered off the side off the freeway and collided with a car getting onto Highway 99 from East Avenue.

The driver of the car suffered moderate injuries and was taken to the hospital.

The driver of the big rig is okay.

The soutbound East Avenue onramp is expected to remain closed for a couple hours as crews work to clear jackknifed big rig.
