CHICO, Calif. - Bidwell Park is full of dogs and their owners and families for Butte County's largest dog-friendly public event. There is also a dog-friendly 5K run that took place on Saturday at the Bidwell Bark Fun Run & Festival, which is a big annual fundraising event for the Butte Humane Society.

Disc Dogs of the Golden Gate were scheduled to perform their high-flying canine action and local dog-trainer Dina Zaphiris from Chico Dog was there with her world-renowned guest animal expert Glauco Lima.

Action News Now was out in Bidwell Park enjoying the festivities and judging some of the contests, including a dog pie-eating contest. Many representatives from our station volunteered to judge the events.

All proceeds from Bidwell Bark benefit the Butte Humane Society.

Thursday was the last fairly quiet weather day that we'll have in northern California as a series of storms will move our way through next week. Our first chance for rain and snow showers arrives Friday morning with a cold front.
