Firefighters Close to Containing 'Bascom Fire' in Shasta County

Shasta County Firefighters are close to containing the 328-acre “Bascom Fire” that burned at Bascom Road and Highway 44 in Millville Saturday.

SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. - Shasta County Firefighters are close to containing the 328-acre “Bascom Fire” that burned at Bascom Road and Highway 44 in Millville Saturday.

The fire did not force evacuations for residents nearby but it did cause some roads to be closed including Dersch Road to Ash Creek, but they have since reopened, according to Cal Fire.

Crews from Shasta County were successful in attacking the blaze by ground and aerial, according to our reporter Spencer Joseph.

No injuries or damaged buildings have been reported from this fire which as of Monday was 90 percent contained.

The “Bascom Fire” was first reported at 100 acres but grew 228 more over the weekend.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
