CHICO, Calif. - The "Brotherhood" of Congregation Beth Israel in Chico hosted their annual bagel brunch Sunday afternoon.
There were bagels, bialy, lox and cream cheese, in addition to dessert and a Bloody Mary bar. Those in attendance though it was a delicious way raise money for religious school for kids in the area and for other educational programs.
This is the first year that the men, not the women, organized the event and served up the amazing spread of food.
Congregation Beth Israel President David Halimi said, "It's the first time we've ever done it. We've talked for years because the sisterhood is so successful, but we never had a cause to unite before."
Halimi said since the sisterhood wanted a break it was their "perfect opportunity."
Halimi hopes they will have more fundraisers like this one to help out the community.
Congregation Beth Israel has been supporting Camp Fire survivors since November as one of their philanthropic community project.
They also support CHAT, the Chico Housing Action Team. A tiny home destined for the new Simplicity Village designed for homeless and elderly disabled citizens in Chico was on display outside of the event on Sunday.
