UPDATE August 5, 2018, - The Chico Police Department arrested a man for allegedly claiming that there was a bomb inside a vehicle near a Valero Gas Station on the Skyway, officials said.
According to Chico police, officers got a call just before 6:30 p.m. about a bomb inside a vehicle, but before officers arrived a clerk from the 1199 Skyway Valero Gas Station claimed that a man entered the building and said he had a bomb inside his vehicle.
The unidentified man left the station toward the Skyway and was seen walking into a B-Line Bus.
Authorities located the bus and detained the suspect.
When officers arrived at the gas station the vehicle had its doors, hood and trunk all open, prompting officials to set a large perimeter causing numerous roads and businesses to evacuate.
The Butte County Inter-Agency Bomb Squad arrived at the scene and after several hours they found no explosives inside the suspect vehicle.
Authorities reopened the roads in an unknown time and the suspect was admitted to Enloe Medical Center for a 72-hour psychiatric hold.
Skyway and Bruce Road in Chico was closed for about three hours due to the incident.

Chico Police have evacauted the Valero Gas Station at 1199 Skyway. The call came in around 6:45pm Saturday. All employees and customers were told to leave, and the surrounding streets, including the Skyway, were closed off. A command center has been set up nearby, and a HAZMAT team with the Chico Fire Department has been called in.
No injuries have been reported, and Action News Now has a crew on the scene, gathering information, and talking to witnesses. Please avoid the area, so emergency personnel can work without distractions.
