CHICO, Calif. – Deputies arrested a Chico man for a residential burglary Monday morning.
Butte County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residential burglary off of El Monte Avenue in Chico around 7:30 a.m. Monday.
The person reporting the burglary to the BCSO dispatcher said they were watching the suspect remotely, via surveillance camera and an app on their cell phone. Responding deputies searched the neighborhood for the suspect and spoke to all of the surrounding neighbors.
Around 9 a.m. Tuesday, neighbors called the sheriff’s office to report seeing the suspect in the same area, yet again. While deputies were conducting a follow-up with the victim’s neighbors, deputies said they saw an individual matching the suspect’s description.
The suspect was identified as 18-year-old Andrew William Ryan Roy, of Sacramento. After further investigation, all of the stolen property was located at a nearby location, according to deputies.
Roy was arrested and transported to the Butte County Jail, where he was booked for residential burglary, and possession of stolen property valued over $950. Roy’s bail was set at $65,000.
