OROVILLE, Calif. – Butte County Deputies arrested 34-year-old Kyle Smith, of Oroville, on multiple counts on sexual abuse of children. The arrest was made where Smith was living on the 1100 block of Cherokee Road in Oroville, according to investigators.

Detectives say they started the investigation in July. During their investigation, two children said that Smith had sexually abused them, and a third child said Smith had attempted to inappropriately touch them, according to investigators. Detectives also say that when the abuse happened all the victims were under the age of 10.

On Aug. 17, the Felony Investigations Unit, a Butte County Probation Officer, and detectives from the Butte Interagency Narcotics Task Force conducted a probation search at Smith’s home. During the search, detectives located evidence related to the sexual abuse of the children, according to investigators.

Smith was arrested for a felony count of continuous sexual abuse of children, a felony count of sexual penetration or oral copulation of a victim under the age of 10, and a felony count of violating the terms and conditions of his probation.
