UPDATE: 11:55 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2020 - The Butte County Sheriff's Office said 45-year-old Aaron Connors was arrested outside of Gold Country Casino in Oroville Thursday for the murder of his mother, 68-year-old Susan Robb. Robb was found Thursday evening dead in her home on the 4300 block of Keefer Road north of Chico.

A 9-1-1 call from a roommate of Susan Robb alerted deputies to the death. According to deputies, the caller said Robb appeared to have suffered a traumatic head wound. The caller also said Robb's vehicle was missing from the home.

While deputies were investigating the reported homicide, they received a call from a resident of a home on Felicidad Lane, close to the Keefer Road murder scene. The caller said a suspicious vehicle was parked in their yard. Deputies discovered the vehicle belonged to Aaron Connors, the son who had been allegedly estranged from his mother for a period of time, according to deputies.

Detectives located Connors at Gold Country Casino in Oroville. With the help of casino staff, Connors was placed under surveillance. Deputies were waiting in the parking lot near a vehicle belonging to Connors. Officers detained him after he came out of the casino.

Detectives continued to gather evidence and information that they said gave them probable cause to believe Connors was responsible for his mother's death.

Connors was arrested and taken to the Butte County Jail on suspicion of murdering his mother. His arraignment will be held on March 9, 2020.

Deputies said this investigation continues. If anyone has information about this case, they are encouraged to call BCSO detectives at 530-538-7671.
