1 person shot on Win-River Casino property, investigation underway

REDDING, Calif. (Update: 12:28 p.m. April 20) – The victim shot near the Win-River Casino Monday afternoon is in stable condition and has been released from the hospital, according to the Shasta County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities arrested a 72-year-old man following the shooting just before 4 p.m. Monday. The sheriff's office said the suspect, Michael Cane has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

The incident happened shortly after 3:30 p.m., Shasta County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the rear west side of the Win-River Casino in response to the call about a gunshot victim, according to Tim Mapes, Public Information Officer for the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies on the scene found a victim who had been shot. Shortly after, the arrest was made.
