The Butte County Sheriff's Office has identified the body found in the Thermalito Afterbay on Friday, Aug. 10.

UPDATE 3:34 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019 - Authorities have identified the body as 65-year-old Daniel Gallick, 65 of Oroville.


BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. - The Butte County Sheriff's Office is investigating a body found in the Thermalito Afterbay on Friday.

Deputies were dispatched around 7:30 a.m. Friday to the Thermalito Afterbay near Monument Hill Road. They found a truck fully submerged in the water. 

Search and rescue teams searched the area. They removed the unnocupied truck from the water. 

Around 11:30 a.m., a body was discovered by a Department of Water Resources employee. 

Authorities said the body found is a man but he has not been identified.
