LASSEN COUNTY, Calif. - The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man on Thursday in connection with a shooting that left another man injured on March 31.
Deputies were sent to an undisclosed location of Westwood on March 31 where they found a man with two gunshot wounds, said the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO).
The victim was later taken to a hospital in Chico for treatment and has since been released.
Based on an investigation, authorities discovered shell casings in the area, and that both men were in a verbal fight before the shooting.
LCSO said the suspect, Kevin Roberts, 35, of Westwood shot the victim multiple times and fled from the scene.
A week later, deputies obtained a search warrant for a home in Westwood for potential evidence and a suspect for the incident, said the LCSO.
When authorities served the warrant they found several items that linked Roberts as the attempted murder suspect, said LCSO.
LCSO arrested Roberts at the home and was later booked into the Lassen County Jail on charges of attempted murder, prohibited possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Roberts’ bail is set at $512,000.
LCSO has not released information as to where the incident happened or where Roberts was arrested.
