REDDING, Calif. - Redding Police arrested a man for an attempted stabbing on the River Trail.

Police say it happened just after 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21.

Investigators say a man walking his dog came upon the suspect, Jon King of Chico, walking two dogs in the opposite direction. The dogs started barking at each other.  Police say the two argued briefly and King pulled a life and tried to stab the other man.

Officers say King was located about 20 minutes later and found to be in possession of a knife. They say King admitted to being involved in an argument but denied the attempted knife attack.

King was booked on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and brandishing a deadly weapon.
