ANDERSON, Calif. – A 26-year-old man with a previous arson arrest and two active warrants was taken into custody by Anderson police on Sunday morning.
Officers said just before 8:00 a.m. they received a report of “an agitated male armed with a knife setting fires” near the Tractor Supply on Marx Way.
Police said they discovered Christopher Kelly of Anderson next to a “small burn pile of miscellaneous items.”
Kelly was detained without incident, officers said.
When police checked their records they discovered that Kelly was on probation for an April 2020 arson conviction. They said he also had two active warrants for his arrest.
Anderson Fire Department Prevention Officers said they will be filing a new criminal case against Kelly for Sunday’s arson incident.
Kelly was placed under arrest and was booked into the Shasta County Jail.
