ANDERSON, Calif. – Police arrested two people in connection with stealing a child's Christmas gift off a front porch in Anderson.

An Anderson resident reported to police that a package was stolen from their front porch. The package was a Christmas present for their child.

The resident provided Anderson PD with a surveillance video. In the video, a shirtless white man arrived in a black SUV, walked up to their porch, and stole the package. Officers said they were able to identify the suspect vehicle’s license plate.

On Dec. 16, an Anderson Police officer located the suspect’s vehicle from the theft on Olinda Road and Peter Pan Gulch Road.

The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and contacted the driver, 40-year-old Stephanie Walton. Police said Walton was found to have an active warrant for her arrest, a suspended driver’s license, and was in possession of meth and drug paraphernalia.

Walton admitted to being the driver of the vehicle at the time of the package theft, and said the stolen property was at her home, according to APD.

Officers then went to Walton’s residence and located 39-year-old Adam Michaels. He was found to have five active warrants for his arrest and identified as the suspect in the package theft video, police said. Michaels also admitted to his involvement in the theft. The stolen property was returned to the victim.

Walton and Michaels were both arrested for their warrants as well as possession of stolen property, drug possession, and their vehicle was impounded.
