Anderson, Calif. --
Anderson Police Officers arrested William Ashley, age 37, of Anderson, on a federal warrant for aggravated identity theft and bank fraud Wednesday.
Police say Ashely was previously arrested in March of 2018 after APD Officers found him to be in possession of mail belonging to almost 100 different victims.
Officers continued their investigation and say they discovered that Ashley had stolen several of the victims identity, stealing the victims money and opening fraudulent credit accounts in their names.
APD Officers worked with US Postal Investigators on the case and were able to develop an investigation that was adopted by the US Attorneys Office for federal prosecution.
During the investigation, police say Ashely actually contacted an APD supervisor to complain that our Police Officers “take our investigations too seriously.”
Ashely has since been transferred into federal custody in Sacramento.
