ANDERSON, Calif. - The Anderson Police Department is starting up its fight against porch pirates this holiday season.

They say they are looking for volunteers to help watch out for the thieves in neighborhoods.

As far as what residents can do on their own, the department has a few suggestions:

  • Track packages and try to be home when they arrive

  • Ask a friend or neighbor to pick up packages if you can't be home when they are delivered

  • Have packages delivered at work

  • Ask the delivery company to require a signature before leaving

  • Install security cameras near the porch to catch any suspicious activity

A dry and warmer than average Presidents' Day and work week is expected as high pressure dominates our weather. High temperatures will make the mid to upper 60s and the next chance for rain isn't until next Sunday.
