ANDERSON, Calif. - A man was arrested for the possession of illegal drugs after a K-9 with the Anderson Police Department helped out.

Officers with the Anderson Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Balls Ferry Road for an equipment violation on Sunday, Jan. 5 around 9:40 p.m.

The officer learned the driver of the vehicle, 26-year-old Xaivier Dave Speare, of Redding. Speare had a suspended California Driver’s License, officers said. During a pat search of Speare, officers said they found metal knuckles.

K-9 Iro conducted a sniff of Speare’s vehicle and discovered illegal drugs on the driver’s side door, officers said. The door panel had to be removed for officers to gain access to the drugs.

Speare was found to be in possession of 21.7 grams of meth, 3.8 grams heroin, illegal prescription drugs, a digital scale, and two methamphetamine smoking pipes, according to officers.

The vehicle was then impounded and Speare was booked into the Shasta County Jail.
