CHICO, Calif. - Sunday morning a tree fell in Lower Bidwell Park at the One-Mile Recreation Area next to the Sycamore Pool

Action News Now reporter Amy Lanski took the photos in the article gallery. She said no one was hurt. She was able to talk to someone who had a rather close call. He was meditating under the tree before it fell.

The interview will be on our 6:00 p.m. news broadcast tonight, and then will be added to this article.

All visitors need to be careful about the potential for falling trees and branches throughout Bidwell Park.

ABOUT ONE-MILE

One-Mile Recreation Area is located within Lower Bidwell Park, just a few blocks from downtown Chico. It is easily accessible from East 4th Street. Sycamore Pool is for community swimming. There are barbecues, softball, horseshoe pits and more.

The extent of One Mile is from Pine Street to Highway 99, although the walking/biking trails extend beyond the highway.

ABOUT SYCAMORE POOL

For those interested in swimming, the Sycamore Pool at the One-Mile Recreation Area  is a concrete pool built around Big Chico Creek.

Lifeguards are on duty from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend each year at the pool.

When swimming in Big Chico Creek, be sure to use caution. Water which may appear to be shallow and/or slow moving can actually be swift and powerful.

After plenty of morning clouds, we had plentiful sunshine this afternoon with weaker wind and warmer highs. The clear sky and light wind will lead to a chillier start Friday morning, and we'll have a breezy and mild Friday before more changes arrive.
