WHITMORE, Calif. - After nearly a week-long search, Shasta County Search and Rescue crews found a 27-year-old hiker who got lost in the Whitmore area.
According to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, the woman went hiking by herself along South Cow creek on Sept. 14, when she became disoriented and was unable to find her way.
When her family and friends noticed she hadn't returned, they went searching for her. They were able to find one of her shoes and cell phone but could not locate her.
Family and friends then notified the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, and Shasta County Search and Rescue (SAR) team was deployed.
The search and rescue team did a thorough search with a CHP H-14 helicopter and found her on Saturday, Sept. 19, in an isolated cliff area along the creek.
The woman was dehydrated with numerous scratches and bruises, but otherwise uninjured and was taken to the hospital.
