PARADISE, CA – A ceremony was held at Fire Station 81 Monday afternoon to place their new engine in service.
Paradise Mayor Steve Crowder and members of the public were in attendance.
Engine 381 is a type 3 fire engine made to create better access against wildland fires.
In 2019, the USDA in cooperation with Tri Counties Bank funded a grant for the town of Paradise Fire Department for the purchase of the fire engine.
According to Paradise Fire Chief, Garrett Sjolund, the fire engine is a 4-wheel drive and has high clearance to navigate narrow roads.
The engine is also lifted to go off-roading.
CAL Fire PIO, Rick Carhart, says this engine has several hose connections so the firefighters do not have to hike back-and-forth to tame the fire.
This engine is equipped to respond to all emergencies and will be used immediately.
