8 arrested during Gridley drug raids

Gridley Police Officers arrested eight people on Friday. Law enforcement is searching for more information on recent activities of those arrested during this drug sweep.

GRIDLEY, Calif. – The Gridley Police department arrested eight people in Gridley Friday after serving search warrants at four different homes.

Just before 8 a.m. February 28, 2020, the warrants were served by officers from the Gridley-Biggs Police Department (GBPD) and detectives with the Butte Interagency Narcotics Task Force (BINTF). The search was for controlled substances possession and sales.

As the raids progressed, officers and deputies located more than two ounces of crystal meth, liquid heroin, and liquid methamphetamine. Police said digital gram scales, packaging materials and pay/owe records showing sales were seized, as well as other drug-related items such as meth pipes and syringes.

44-year-old Jason Patrick Coy was arrested for an outstanding felony arrest warrant for a parole violation. Coy was brought to the attention of Action News Now after he had been arrested in April 2017 in relation to a package theft incident that occurred near Keefer Road in Chico.

42-year-old Jessica Rene Valdez was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for sale, using a place of residence to sell controlled substances, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a specified controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and committing a criminal offense while out on bail.

44-year-old Dawn Marie Stevens was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

56-year-old Charles Edward Kester was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for sale, using a place of residence to sell controlled substances, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a specified controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

32-year-old David Santos was arrested for an outstanding felony arrest warrant for being a felon being in possession of a firearm and for possession of stolen property.

37-year-old Robert Richard McDonald was arrested for possession of a specified controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

34-year-old Sarah Marie McCarty was arrested for an outstanding misdemeanor arrest warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia, being under the influence of a controlled substance and failure to appear in court.

47-year-old Steven Gerald Edwards was arrested for a probation violation, for possession of a controlled substance and for possession of drug paraphernalia.

This investigation is on-going and additional arrests are anticipated.
