TRINITY COUNTY, Calif. - A deadly crash started a vegetation fire north of Hayfork in Trinity County.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) Officers say that on Tuesday at 7:56 p.m. they received a report of a vegetation fire on SR-3 near mile marker 17 miles north of Hayfork.
A half-hour later, they say a crew cab pickup was discovered off the roadway in the burn area.
After flames were extinguished, CHP officers say it was determined that a deceased person was in the pickup.
Due to the condition of the truck and party located within, they say no identification has made at this time.
The California Highway Patrol is working with the Trinity County Sheriff's Department to identify the individual so that family can be notified.
