OROVILLE, Calif. - Butte County Sheriff's deputies announced Thursday that they have arrested 24-year-old Douglas Dotson of Oroville for two felony warrants for burglary and vehicle theft.

The related incident involved the theft of a motorcycle from a residence in the 2600 block of Oro-Quincy Highway on Monday, Feb. 17, 2020.

Dotson was arrested on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2020.

The case was cracked, according to deputies, after surveillance video was posted to social media. According to deputies, the video showed two male suspects committing the burglary. One of the suspects was recognized by social media followers, leading to the arrest of Dotson.

Deputies said they were able to confirm that Dotson was the individual who entered the residence and took the motorcycle, which was later recovered at an Oroville home.

Deputies are still trying to identify the second male who was involved in the burglary. If you recognize the second suspect or have any information about this investigation you are asked to contact Detective Will Brewton at (530) 538-7671.
