UPDATE (4/21/18) - The California Highway Patrol in Oroville has released specific information on Saturday into how they found a vehicle responsible for a Thursday hit-and-run incident.

On Friday the CHP was contacted by the Butte County District Attorney’s Office and they were advised that the owner of the suspicious vehicle wanted to surrender it.

Investigators were dispatched to an undisclosed location in the greater Oroville area where they contacted the vehicle owner and conducted a vehicle inspection.

Authorities believe they have enough information to suggest that the surrendered vehicle was the car responsible for the crime, said CHP.

The vehicle has since been impounded for evidence and processing, officials have not released further information into this case.

Officers have not yet arrested anyone connected to the crime.

The CHP would still like information to piece together a hit-and-run incident that left one man dead, Carlos Gonzalez, while he was reportedly landscaping alongside his brother.

Oroville, Calif.--A hit and run leaves one man dead and 400 customers without power today in Oroville.

Ryan Lambert with the California Highway Patrol said that just before 1:30 Thursday afternoon a man and his brother were doing landscape work when he suddenly heard a loud boom.

It was then that he saw a gray or silver mid-2000s model large pick up truck that had major damage to its right side.

That car hit an electric pole, as well as the 47-year-old victim, which was the brother of the man who was doing the landscape work.

Police believe the victim died from the impact of the crash, and the search is now on for the suspect vehicle.

"They left many family members here today with the loss of someone and for the family's sake just contact us, let us know what happened and deal with whatever consequences there may be. Give some resolution to this family, it's horrible," said Lambert.

As the coroner was getting ready to take the body away many of those family members gathered around the victim to say a prayer, incredibly distraught.

If you have any information that may give this family some closure, you're asked to contact the California Highway Patrol at 530-332-1200.
