Oroville, Calif.—The DWR updated the progress of the Oroville Dam Spillway repairs Wednesday.

The DWR updated their plan of operation to make sure the main spillway is fully constructed before next winter.

The operation update is awaiting federal approval.

The repair work will continue, and next week will ramp up.

On the main spillway crews will begin prep work to resurface the top layer of the concrete.

Once that work is done a 730 foot section of steel reinforced structural concrete slabs will go in.

There is also resurfacing work being done on the emergency spillway.

Over the next four to six weeks the DWR will do maintenance on three of the six turbines at the Hyatt Powerplant.

Another big factor is the lake level, which is currently at 809 feet just four feet below the main spillway.

Once the lake level reaches 814 feet some water is expected to pass through the gates onto the main spillway.

However the spillway wouldn’t be put to the test unless the water level was to climb to 830 feet.
