Chico Police: Man shot in the back of the head gets robbed, suspects at large

The Chico Police Department is investigating three robberies that left one man with a gunshot wound to the back of his head in the South Campus area.

CHICO - The Chico Police Department is investigating three robberies that left one man with a gunshot wound to the back of his head in the South Campus area.

Chico police said this happened just before 1:30 a.m. Saturday in the area of West Second and Orange streets, upon arrival officers, found the victim laying in the middle of the street.

The victim was conscious at the time and claimed that two unknown men robbed him, the unidentified victim was later taken to Enloe Medical Center where he’s expected to survive.

While officers were examining the crime scene, officers were alerted to an additional armed robbery that occurred 20 minutes prior to the shooting in the same area, according to officials.

Officers later located two more victims of the robbery spree and the victims said they complied with the suspects’ demands.

So far the Chico Police Department provided only a brief description of the suspects as:

• Two white men
• In their early 20s
• Armed with handguns

According to CPD, the suspects were last seen running southbound on Cherry Street.
