On Saturday, the Butte Humane Society and Courtesy Subaru of Chico hosted a “free adoption day,” in Chico.

28 cats and 30 dogs were available for a free adoption thanks to a generous grant by Subaru.

The Chico dealership donated $2,500 so adopters would not have to pay the usual adoption fees, Saturday.

Most of the dogs come from the Chico City Animal Shelter.

The cats come from the public or from other shelters.

The event ended at 6 p.m., but it's never too late to take a furry friend home with you.
