CHICO, Calif. - The Chico Lions Club gave away 400 turkey meals just in time for Christmas, for families affected by the Camp Fire, which destroyed thousands of homes.
Behind the Ross store on Notre Dame Boulevard, volunteers were on hand to put meals inside people’s cars.
Recipients had to show proof of residence and their FEMA registration number in order to get a meal.
A toy donation center was also available for those looking for a gift for their children this Christmas.
The giveaway was a first come first serve until all the meals were handed out.
