PLUMAS COUNTY, Calif. - A 4-year-old was taken to the hospital after deputies said the child suffered an injury from being shot accidentally, according to the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office.
The Plumas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an accidental discharge in Quincy on Saturday around 3 p.m.
The Sheriff’s Office said a 4-year-old was injured and taken to a hospital before being transferred to Renown Medical Center in Reno for treatment of the abdomen.
Jason Gilliam of Quincy was arrested and taken into custody for felony charges of child endangerment and criminal storage of a firearm.
Gilliam is currently in custody at the Plumas County Correctional Facility with a $50,000.00 bail.
He has been charged with 25100(a) PC – Criminal Storage of a Firearm and 273(a)a PC. Both are felony charges.
The injured child, the son of Gilliam, is in fair and stable condition. His release date from the medical facility is not known at this time. He is expected to make a full recovery, the Plumas County Sheriff's Office said.
The investigation is ongoing.
