CHICO, Calif. - A 4-year-old girl in Chico had to quickly go to the hospital after suffering heat exposure inside a car Sunday afternoon.
Chico police say it happened just after 4:30 p.m. Sunday, officers are only saying it happened in south Chico.
A 911 call came in from the parent of the girl saying she had suffered heat exposure in the back seat of the family vehicle. Chico firefighters, Butte Medics and police responded quickly and found the girl conscious.
Shortly after that incident, an investigation was conducted by Chico police and officers determined there was no negligence on the part of the family.
Officers learned the girl had gone outside the house without her parents knowing and gotten into the vehicle after the mother arrived back from the store. The vehicle was cool at the time the girl went inside.
When her parents realized she was missing, they searched and found the girl curled up in the backseat of the vehicle. Her parents quickly put her in a bathtub and called 911.
