CHICO, Calif. – The Butte County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) announced the arrest of two people for residential burglary in Chico.
The investigation into the residential burglary in Chico began in December. BCSO said during the investigation, they identified Cory Dobbins, age 20, and Denise Hernandez, age 46, both of Chico, as suspects.
On Dec. 12, Dobbins and Hernandez were contacted by the Chico Police Department during an unrelated investigation. Chico Police Officers said they located property taken during the residential burglary. BCSO also located additional evidence they say showed Dobbins and Hernandez committed the burglary.
The sheriff's office used their ANDE DNA machine, which allows for rapid DNA, which is the generation of a DNA ID to identify DNA within hours. BCSO said they used the ANDE DNA machine during this investigation and located DNA evidence showing Hernandez was at the Chico residence during the burglary.
Dobbins and Hernandez were both booked into the Butte County Jail for a felony count of residential burglary.
The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with additional information about this investigation to contact Detective Brian Mollath at 530-538-7671.
