REDDING, Calif.- The Redding Police arrested a man after an officer observed their truck had a trailer license plate instead of a commercial license plate on the 4800 Block of Churn Creek Rd. at 10:36 p.m. Friday.

The officer ran a DMV records check and discovered the rear license plate was from a trailer.

Christopher Rutledge, 44, of Temecula was in the passenger seat of the white GMC Sierra. Rutledge along with David Tietjen, 38, of North Highlands and Kristine Cannedy, 22, of Roseville were all questioned by the officer, according to the Redding Police Department.

It was found that Rutledge was on Post Release Community Supervision with multiple prior felony convictions.

None of the three were the registered owner of the truck but Rutledge admitted responsibility for the vehicle.

Upon a search of the vehicle a short-barreled shotgun, three live rounds of shotgun ammunition, 1.15 pounds of heroin, a digital scale and drug paraphernalia were found.

Rutledge was booked into the Shasta County Jail for a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, possession of a firearm with a modified barrel, transportation of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sale and transportation of a controlled substance between counties.

Rutledge's bail is set at $35,000.

Tietjen was booked into the Shasta County Jail for an unrelated felony warrant,

Cannedy was released shortly after the investigation on location.
