UPDATE: 6:32 p.m. Feb. 11 - A car traveling northbound on Highway 70 crossed the center divide directly in front of a car traveling southbound.
The two people in the northbound car were pronounced dead at the scene.

The two people in the southbound car were transported to Enloe Medical Center with minor to moderate injuries.
There were two dogs in the southbound car and one of the dogs died.
Tow trucks are on the way as the highway is down to one lane.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.

OROVILLE, Calif. - CHP says two people are dead in a collision that happened just south of Ophir Road, right after 5 p.m.
It happened in the southbound lanes.
Drivers are urged to avoid the area if possible.
