2 dead in 2 car collision on Highway 70 south of Olivehurst

Two men died in a two-car collision Tuesday at noon on Highway 70 south of Olivehurst Ave.

OLIVEHURST, Calif. - Two men died in a two-car collision Tuesday at noon on Highway 70 south of Olivehurst Avenue, California Highway Patrol said.

A 20-year-old driver and 17-year-old passenger, both from Olivehurst, were pronounced dead from blunt force trauma after colliding with a tree.

Ron Walline, 56, of Olivehurst, was traveling northbound on Highway 70 in a Lincoln Navigator at 55 mph when the driver of a Honda Prelude approached the back of his vehicle and drove into the east shoulder, and hit the right side of Walline’s vehicle.

The driver of the Honda Prelude drove back on the roadway but lost control and drove into the right shoulder when the Honda hit a tree and came to a stop by the railroad tracks.

Walline sustained no injuries and waited for CHP to arrive.
