2 Palermo residents arrested in Bear Fire evacuation zone

The Butte County Sheriff's Office announced two more arrests were made while patrolling Bear Fire evacuation zones.

OROVILLE, Calif. - The Butte County Sheriff's Office announced two more arrests were made while patrolling Bear Fire evacuation zones.

BCSO said Stephanie Neeley, 30, of Palermo, and Joseph Stanfield, 60, of Palermo, were both arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 15.

Authorities said Shasta County Probation Officers were patrolling the evacuated area of Feather Falls in Oroville on Tuesday. They contacted Neeley and Stanfield near Lumpkin Road and Ponderosa Way.

A responding BCSO deputy determined they re-entered the evacuation area to tend to their marijuana plants, according to authorities.

Neeley was arrested for unlawful entry into an evacuation zone. Stanfield was arrested for unlawful entry into an evacuation zone, possession of drug paraphernalia, and providing a false name to law enforcement, according to BCSO.
