Paradise, Calif. - The 13th Annual Paradise Chocolate Fest gets underway Friday evening, May 11th with An Evening of Chocolate, Wine & Brew! It takes place from 7 - 10 p.m. at Paradise Community Park, located at the corner of Black Olive and Pearson Roads. A $50 ticket will get you Guittard Chocolate and wine pairings, specialty beer tasting, artisan food vendors, Chocolate Martinis and live jazz music.
The main day of the Fstival is Saturday, May 12th. It kicks off with the Beyond Fitness Chocolate Chase 5 and 10K Runs and 5K Walk. Registration is 7 a.m., the Race is at 8 a.m. starting in the Beyond Fitness parking lot, 7224 Skyway.
The Butte County Sheriff's Posse will serve up Guittard Chocolate Chip Pancakes with Guittard Chocolate syrup, sausages and juice for $5 from 8 - 11 a.m. at Terry Ashe Park.
The Chocolate Fest continues at the Terry Ashe Park and Recreation Center, 6626 Skyway, until 5 p.m. Organizers describe it as a Chocolate Extravaganza! Proceeds benefit Youth Organizations on the Paradise Ridge, raising more than $183,000.00 over the past 8 years alone.
You will find "Candyland" with floor to ceiling, wall to wall chocolatiers from throughout the state ... selling their wares and providing plenty of free samples. There is an ice cream shop, a Kid Zone with Free bounce houses and games, Live Music, a Crafts Fair, Free Chocolate Ice Cream and Pie Eating Contests, a Chocolate Cuisine Challenge and plenty of food for sale.
And Royal Coronation of the Chocolate Queen will take place, involving local candidates who have raised money for the event.
Tickets are just $5 for the Chocolate Fest.
And it doesn't end this weekend. On Saturday, May 19th is the Chocolate Thunder Motorcycle Poker Run. The Road Rally begins at Sierra Steel Harley Davidson, 1501 Mangrove Avenue, in Chico Travel the backroads of Butte County, ending at the Elks Lodge in Paradie for a BBQ, Rock & Roll and awards. Cost is $20 per Rider/$30 per couple. Check-in is 9 a.m.
And finally, the Paradise Tour 'de Chocolate Bike Ride on Sunday, May 20th. It begins at Paradise Community Park, where it also ends ... with riders enjoying lunch on the green.
