10 COVID-19 deaths reported in Shasta County Wednesday

SCHHS reported 10 COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday and three were under the age of 50.

SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. - 10 COVID-19 deaths were reported in Shasta County Wednesday, according to the Shasta County Health and Human Services.

A man in his 30s, a woman and a man in their 40s, a woman and a man in their 60s, a man in his 70s and two women and two men in their 80s died.

There are 92 people in the hospital in Shasta County and 24 are in ICU with the virus.

There are 477 active cases in the county.

SCHHS says vaccinated people are 10.2 times less likely to be hospitalized for COVID-19.

371 of 422 hospitalizations in Shasta County were among people not vaccinated. 11 of the 422 were people who were partially vaccinated and 40 hospitalizations were among people fully vaccinated between July 26 and Oct. 26.

51.5% of Shasta County residents eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine are fully vaccinated and 59.6% have received at least one dose.
