UPDATE 4:49 p.m. Wednesday, April 1 - Authorities have identified the person who died in a Redding garage fire that broke out early Tuesday morning.
51-year-old Christopher Wayne Robison of Redding was positively identified by the Deputy Coroner Investigator. This case remains under investigation by the Shasta County Coroner's Office.

REDDING, Calif. – One person is dead after a fire broke out in a detached garage in Redding, according to the Redding Fire Department.
It happened on Leonard Street around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, March 31.
Redding Battalion Chief Jason Foley said one person was found dead inside. The detached garage was turned into a living space. The building damage was estimated at $30,000, according to Redding Fire.
Fire crews were able to keep the flames from spreading to the main house and are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
The name of the person who died has not been released.
