UPDATE: 4:20 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2020 - Authorities have identified the man who died in a single-vehicle collision near Willows Tuesday morning.
32-year-old Daniel Garcia, of Willows, died due to the collision. The passenger in the car, 55-year-old Jennifer Gailbreth, of Willows, is at the hospital with major injuries, according to the CHP.
The vehicle was traveling northbound on Country Road D north of County Road 57. CHP Officer Baxter said the driver drifted and lost control, then overturned onto the right shoulder and struck an electrical pole.
"Well there's obviously speed involved," said Officer Baxter. "I haven't determined what the approximate speed is yet, but we got a fairly large scene so the vehicle was traveling at a decent speed at the time of the accident."
WILLOWS, Calif. - One man is dead after an early morning collision near Willows, according to the CHP.
CHP Officer K. Baxter said it happened on County Road D near County Road 57, southwest of Willows. The crash happened around 6:40 a.m.
The vehicle was traveling northbound on Country Road D north of County Road 57. Officer Baxter said the driver drifted and lost control, then overturned while striking an electrical pole.
Two people were inside the car at the time of the collision, the driver and a woman. The woman was transported to Enloe Medical Center. The extent of her injuries is unknown at this time.
Glenn County Sheriff's Office, CHP, and Kanawha Fire Department are on the scene of the crash.
It's unknown if drugs or alcohol played factors in the crash but officers said speeding was involved. At this time, the driver and passenger's identification is not known.
