1 dead in Redding after motorcycle crashes into Highway 44 guardrail

The California Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a motorcycle crash in Redding on Sunday afternoon.

REDDING, Calif. – A motorcyclist was involved in a crash in Redding near the beginning of Highway 44 downtown. A witness said one person was dead at the scene.

The crash happened on Highway 44 west of Park Marina Dr. Sunday, CHP said.

A witness said the driver of the motorcycle appeared to have hit a guard rail before going over the side of the highway and landing on the street below.

Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
